Summer 2026-2027 Reading Assignments
1. Purpose of Summer Reading
Summer reading is designed to keep your mind active, improve your literacy skills, and prepare you for the upcoming school year. The assigned book(s) will introduce themes, vocabulary, and content that you will engage with in your English class. This assignment ensures you are ready to participate in class discussions, projects, and assessments from the first day of school.
2. Reading Project
In addition to reading the assigned book(s), you are required to complete a related project. This project helps demonstrate your understanding of the text and gives your teacher insight into your interpretation and critical thinking. The project is a key part of your first-quarter grade and is expected to be submitted during the first week of school.
3. How to Access the Book
- Purchase from a local bookstore or online retailer.
- Borrow an audiobook or eBook via Libby or YouTube.
- Check out a physical copy from your public library.
- Borrow a loaner copy from Quest Forward (limited, first-come, first-served). Contact the school before summer break ends. Lost/damaged books incur replacement fees.
4. Summer Reading is Required
Failure to read and submit the project by Friday, August 14th, 2026 will result in points deducted from your grade, affecting your overall quarter grade. Stay responsible and meet all deadlines.
